Frequently asked questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers. Check out these common queries about Flight Pass:

How does Flight Pass work?

  • Sign-up. Visit FlightPass.alaskaair.com. Select the plan appropriate for how much advance planning you require. Choose the number of roundtrip credits you want to receive each month. Agree to 12 monthly payments at a fixed rate – the monthly rate will not change during the subscription period.
  • Pay monthly. Your credit card will be charged the agreed-upon amount each month for 12 months.
  • Earn credits. Upon successful payment each month, your Flight Pass account will be given credits that are redeemable for roundtrip tickets on eligible Alaska Airlines flights. Credits are valid for a limited time – they expire once your next batch of credits is deposited in your account. You do not have to travel before your credit expires, only redeem and book travel before the expiration date. You may travel up to 90 days in the future.
  • Book your flights. Use your credits to book roundtrip tickets. Search for the airports and departure dates you’re interested in. Select the flights you want – most flights are included in your subscription at a fare of only $0.01, but a few may require a higher premium access fare. Pay the fares, taxes, and fees associated with the flights you select.
  • Travel. You’re all set. Everything else about your travel experience is the same as you’ve come to love with Alaska Airlines: select your seats for free, pay for Premium Class upgrades, change flights when your plans change, earn valuable Mileage Plan miles, enjoy your elite status benefits and much more!

What do I pay as a Flight Pass subscriber?

As a subscriber, you pay a fixed monthly rate and any associated fares, taxes or fees on the flights you select:

  • Monthly fee. You commit to 12 monthly payments at the price applicable when you sign -up. This price will not change during the commitment period. The monthly payment entitles you to credits which can be redeemed for travel on eligible Alaska Airlines flights.
  • Flight fare. Most eligible flights are included as part of your membership at a fare of only one cent ($0.01). These flights appear as Included when searching for travel. Occasionally a flight will require an additional premium access fare. In order to offer a great deal on the vast majority of flights and avoid the use of blackouts, Alaska requires this higher fare on some of our most popular flights.
  • Taxes & fees. All flyers, regardless of how they bought their ticket, are required to pay some government taxes and airport fees. For all flights eligible with Flight Pass, these total to $15.11 each way. These include: US Flight Segment tax, US Transportation tax, Passenger Facility charge, and the September 11th Security fee. You will pay these fees upon credit redemption for each leg of your journey. Want to know how much each plan will cost you in total? View the pricing table in our Terms & Conditions.
